British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
This update on his health comes as the boxing community offered its support for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
