Flight operations have resumed at Edinburgh Airport after a significant technical issue at the control tower brought the international hub to a standstill.

Every arrival and departure were stopped due to an systems problem that was reported at approximately 08:30.

Some passengers were left waiting in aircraft on the tarmac during the disruption.

Operations Restart with Ongoing Delays

Officials announced at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "patience and understanding".

However, ongoing issues are likely to persist for some time. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been axed, with many others facing hold-ups.

An airport representative had earlier anticipated that dozens of flights could be impacted.

"Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for the current status on their specific flights," was the consistent advice.
