Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, adding that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
After the tragedy, public individuals shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive claims that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and implied they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate could have stepped in when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
